If your list of non-negotiables for your next rental property look a little like water views and a laidback coastal lifestyle, look no further than the Northern Beaches. Featuring the picturesque suburbs of Dee Why, Manly, Newport, Freshwater, Avalon and the like, the Northern Beaches is a pocket of paradise loved by locals and tourists alike.
As with any local area, it all comes down to lifestyle. The diversity of the Northern Beaches allows residents to pick and choose between beachside vibrance or a laid-back hideaway – or perhaps just the right balance of both!
With some of the best beaches in Australia (if not the world) the Northern Beaches celebrates the coast, an adventurous outdoor spirit, and our beautiful landscape each and every day. Although rental properties can be competitive – especially when it comes to those with a water view – the rewards are endless.
Seafood is of course king on the Northern Beaches, and with so many award-winning, waterfront restaurants to choose from, the hardest decision you’ll be faced with is where to go next! If beer is more your thing, there are several craft breweries on the Northern Beaches (there must be something in the air) for you to tour and sample the local produce. Understandably, health and sustainability are incredibly important to Northern Beaches residents so health food stores and specialty restaurants are in abundance.
For groceries and essentials, Woolworths, Coles, Harris Farm and Aldi are never far away no matter where you find your next property. If it’s local produce you’re after, on the Northern Beaches you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to local makers and grower’s markets. Manly, Avalon and Palm Beach all host regular markets making it easy to pick up speciality products and produce.
Although the Northern Beaches suburbs aren’t as well-connected to public transport wise as the Inner West, it’s the age-old local’s argument of but why would you ever leave!? If you do need to make your way into the city for work, the iconic Manly Ferry is incredibly popular with morning commuters and there are several park-and-ride services available near the terminal. Although there are no trains on the Northern Beaches, an extensive bus network services most of the region, with direct links into the city.
If you do choose to drive into the CBD, avoiding peak hour traffic (if possible) is advisable. Across the Spit Bridge, and towards the harbour, traffic can be challenging, especially if you’re commuting five days per week!
The Northern Beaches is tailored for families who value lifestyle over convenience to the city and CBD. Manly Village Public School and Manly Public School present an incredible learning environment for your little ones. If you’re searching for private education, however, the International Grammar School, St Paul’s Catholic College and St Kieran’s Catholic Primary are also in the area.
