With parks, a nearby golf course, walking tracks, picnic areas and sports ovals, leafy Lindfield offers the best of outdoorsy, suburban life while being conveniently close to city connections.
Lying just above Upper North Shore suburbs of Chatswood and Roseville, the suburb straddles the Pacific Highway, separating it from neighbouring East Lindfield.
There’s an assortment of cafes, restaurants and small businesses along the expanse of highway cutting through the suburb. Venture away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip to find more intimate shops and eateries in the backstreets. Being on the doorstep of buzzy neighbour Chatswood means that residents can also enjoy big-brand shopping experiences and international restaurants in the malls and streets there.
Being part of Sydney’s prestigious North Shore means that sought-after schools are close by. This, along with a strong sense of community, is a major drawcard for families looking to rent in the area.
Lindfield is home to both established and young families, professional couples and downsizers/ retirees.
A cluster of developments around the Lindfield Shopping Village on Lindfield Avenue has led to a swathe of new apartment-living options in the area. Two and three bedroom units, many with smart modern inclusions are available for rent here.
Away from the suburb’s centre, the majority of properties are larger free standing houses – in a mix of period and modern – set on spacious blocks with big backyards.
Current average rents in Lindfield are $1400pw for a three-bedroom house and $700pw for a two-bedroom unit.
Lindfield Train Station on the North Shore Line connects the suburb to the city and other parts of the North Shore by rail.
Public bus services are also available and, depending on traffic, CBD commuters can expect a 20-30 minute ride.
For motorists, access to the highway is easy and car travel is a great way to explore the area’s beautiful scenery and attractions, or to take a day trip to Sydney’s Northern Beaches for a change of scenery.
Lindfield is home to a handful of local schools and has the benefit of being close to all of the leading schools the Upper North Shore has to offer.
The suburb is in the public schools catchment area for Lindfield Public School. Killara High School offers public education for students in Years 7-12.
Private and independent schools include Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Highfields Preparatory and Kindergarten School and Newington College – Lindfield Preparatory School.
