Sydney’s Inner West is a busy, vibrant area with a rich multicultural mix and a sensational restaurant and cafe scene. Its lifestyle and liveability make it a dream area for renters, as does its wide range of affordable rental properties.
The suburbs of the Inner West are diverse – from leafy Drummoyne which boasts prime waterside apartment living to historic Annandale with its grand Victorian houses and terraces. The area also comes alive after dark with pubs, bars and venues like the iconic Enmore Theatre, which is one of Sydney’s oldest and longest running live theatres.
Despite the constant buzz, it’s entirely possible to find the perfect patch of serenity in the Inner West’s many parks and open spaces. Glebe’s iconic Foreshore Parks – the Jubilee, Federal, Blackwattle Bay and Bicentennial – offer beautiful vistas and lots of space to walk, jog and cycle. Other popular outdoor spots are the picture-perfect Rodd Point Park overlooking the Parramatta River and picnic-friendly Pioneer Memorial Park in Leichhardt.
The Inner West’s closeness to Sydney’s CBD is a huge drawcard and the public transport options are many. Sydney Buses criss-cross the area, there are several major railway stations and you can travel the Inner West Light Rail between Dulwich Hill and Central Station. The Parramatta River Ferry service passes through Balmain and Drummoyne on its way to the city and regular ferry services are also available between Circular Quay and Balmain East or Thames Street Wharves.
Future road and transport improvements are set to increase its status as a major transport-hub, with local and state governments working on a Parramatta Road renewal project and additional light rail corridor to the city.
The Inner West also prides itself on promoting inclusive and environmentally friendly modes of transport and it’s one of the few areas of Sydney that offers genuine options for its residents to safely and comfortably cycle or walk to work.
